Art Direction + Design:
Roald Dahl’s The Witches
I led on the creative for Roald Dahl’s new musical, coming to the National Theatre for Christmas 2023. The production has been developed over the last six years, with the Dahl tale at its heart brought to the stage by Lyndsey Turner, Lucy Kirkwood and Dave Malloy.
The project involved a full exploration of concepts surrounding the key themes within the show, but ultimately, we wanted to introduce audiences to Luke, the boy/mouse who proves that anyone can be a hero, no matter how small they are.
The next stage of the project commissioned illustrator Laurie Avon to bring the sketches to life through finely tuned character development in the style of analogue linocut.
